Monaghan Town businessman Raymond Aughey has been selected by the Fianna Fáil organisation in North Monaghan to replace Senator Robbie Gallagher on Monaghan Co Council. Mr Aughey was unopposed at the selection convention held in Monaghan’s Four Seasons Hotel on Monday night last. Clones-based Mike Durkan, who had unsuccessfully contested the February General Election for FF in Cavan/Monaghan, withdrew his candidacy.
