CO MUSEUM HELPS MONAGHAN TOWN “STEP BACK IN TIME”

A new “Stepping Back In Time” street exhibition has been put in place in Monaghan Town in an initiative implemented by Monaghan Co Museum. A total of twenty images of vistas and views of locations in the county capital have been prominently erected in their modern day sites, allowing the viewer to contrast the past appearance of their locale with the present and partake in the time-travel journey of the display’s title. What is described as a “permanent outreach project exhibition” has been drawn from the Co Museum’s postcard collection. ...

MONAGHAN COUNTY COUNCIL LAUNCHES THE 2015 GUM LITTER TASKFORCE CAMPAIGN

The 2015 Gum Litter Taskforce (GLT) gum litter education campaign was launched in Carrickmacross this week by Cathoirleach of Monaghan County Council Cllr. Noel Keelan. The launch follows an agreement between the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government and Food and Drink Industry Ireland (FDII) representing the gum industry, to fund a national gum litter awareness programme from 2015 – 2017. The agreement includes new agreed mechanisms to further enhance and reinvigorate the campaign and represents a multi-million euro commitment by industry to tackling the issue of littered gum. NEW PRIEST ORDAINED AT ST MACARTAN’S CATHEDRAL

Bishop of Clogher Most Rev Liam MacDaid officiated at the ordination in St Macartan’s Cathedral in Monaghan Town on Sunday last of Fr Leo Creelman. Fr Creelman (51) is a native of Coleraine in County Derry. He is one of nine children, five daughters and four sons of Harry and Philomena Creelman. Leo was educated at Dominican College, Portstewart and then obtained a degree in Accountancy and Economics from Queens University Belfast.
