An Emyvale woman died on Tuesday after sustaining injury in a three-vehicle road traffic collision outside Dungannon, Co Tyrone on Sunday last. Mrs Brigid McKenna from Derryhee was the third person to lose her life as a result of the accident. She passed away at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. Mrs McKenna was travelling with her husband when their vehicle was involved in the collision on the Moy Road. Two men from Slovakia were killed. Some of the members of Emyvale Cycling Club and Killylough Cycling Club, making the presentation of the cheque for €4,138 to the Crocus Cancer Support Group. The work of an Emyvale sculptor has been included in a stone monument of Ireland that was unveiled in Donegal last weekend. Marc Kelly of Emyvale was asked to create a decorative stone for County Monaghan for inclusion in the Stones of Ireland, a fifteen-foot high stone map of Ireland that saw thirty-two individual counties made of stone, slotted together like a jigsaw puzzle. Órna Colton from Emyvale, Co Monaghan won the An Comhdhail World Irish Dancing Championship U-15 2016. Out of a competition of over 170 competitors she won 1st place in Killarney on the 22nd March. Órna Dances for Scoil Rince Ní Bhrogáin School who hold Classes in Edenmore Emyvale , Augher, Clogher and Coonian, under the tuition of Frances Brogan. MAGIC MIDNIGHT OVER EMYVALE

This spectacular view of the Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights was supplied to us by Gabriel Murphy, who took the picture in Emyvale on Sunday night last.  The celestial phenomenon, which occurs when electrically charged particles from the Sun enter the Earth’s atmosphere, was in its full splendour in the night sky over the weekend.  The hour when the aurora is often best seen has given rise to the description “magic midnight”.
