Up on 90 processing jobs are at risk in the long-established chicken production plant at Dyan, off the Monaghan road about two miles outside Cootehill, while the livelihoods of 28 chicken growers (about one third of whom are the shareholders in the company) are also in jeopardy. There was shock and sadness in Cootehill on Sunday last at news of the death of 23-year-old Siobhan Kennefick-Ahearne, the mother of a six -year-old daughter and four-year-old twins, a boy and girl. Ms Kennefick-Ahearne, of 42 Lodge View, Cootehill, had become ill shortly after attending the ‘Planet Love’ music festival at Shane’s Castle, Co Antrim, which she had left with her boyfriend Noel after he completed his shift as a security guard at the event.
