Once again the Sacred Heart Church, Clones was the backdrop to the 14th colourful, emotional and totally unique Gone But Not Forgotten bikers memorial, which took place on Friday evening last. To the delight of all, this year, the sun shone brightly from early morning and continued right throughout the day. FORMER CLONES SOLICITOR ADMITS STEALING €850,000 FROM CLIENTS’ FUNDS

A WELL-KNOWN former Clones-based solicitor pleaded guilty at Monaghan Circuit Court on Tuesday to stealing over €850,000 from clients over a seven-year period between 2006 and 2013. Sentencing was deferred in the case of Paul Madden, aged 50, of The Diamond, Clones, who had admitted his guilt on 16 separate charges relating to monies taken from various clients’ accounts, contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001. Irish celebrity Bressie travelled to Clones on Monday to garner support for local Voice of Ireland finalist Michael Lawson. Bressie, who is Newbliss native Michael’s coach on the TV show, visited meat processing plant, ABP Clones, where Michael works and he also met some local people in the village of Newbliss. Michael can be seen singing live in this weekend’s Voice of Ireland final on RTE One this Sunday from 6.30pm.
