The official launch of the Down Syndrome Centre North East (DSCNE) took place on Saturday afternoon and it was a great occasion. Things didn’t go exactly according to plan as the marquee company cancelled after a wind warning, but it all worked out great because Carrickmacross Civic Offices flung open its doors, proving that it is a community venue. It was planned that Kate Grant, Benefit brand ambassador and Down Syndrome self-advocate would perform the opening with Bernie Bradley, Social Inclusion Officer with Monaghan County Council.

Despite valiant efforts to get there, Kate’s plane from the UK was delayed, she flew to Dublin but would not have made the launch on time. Kate will take centre-stage at DSCNE’s fashion show fundraiser next month. Nonetheless, the highlyaccomplished and superbly…
