Scotstown’s hopes of winning a fifth Ulster Club Senior Football Championship were cruelly crushed in Omagh on Sunday last by Donegal champions Gweedore, who won their first ever Ulster club title with a point in the fourth minute of the second period of extra time to break Scotstown hearts.

Played in difficult conditions this was a contest that was in the balance all through but a number of factors conspired to deny Scotstown and none more so than the very harsh dismissal of Shane Carey on a straight red card about midway through the first period of extra time. Carey at that stage had scored six points for Scotstown and in his absence they struggled for the remainder….
