CHRISTMAS BONUSES AXED BY LACPATRICK AS PART OF COST SAVINGS

Staff at LacPatrick Dairies have been told there will be no Christmas bonuses paid this year at any of the company’s three centres in Monaghan, Artigarvan Co. Tyrone and Ballyrashane near Coleraine. It’s part of a number of cost saving measures being put in place in order “to support the survival of the company”. The cuts do not involve any change to salaries.

The co-operative’s shareholders last month unanimously approved plans to amalgamate with Lakeland Dairies, a move that needs to be approved by the competition authorities on both sides of the border. Other moves that are being implemented immediately are the suspension of the sick pay scheme and extra payments based on the length of service.
