BELFAST COURT RULES ON PLANNING DECISION BY CIVIL SERVANT

The controversial North South interconnector project which faces a Supreme Court action by anti-pylon protestors in the Republic later this year, is now the subject of a potentially greater challenge in the courts in Belfast. The NI Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal by the Northern Ireland Department of Infrastructure against a decision that it did not have the power to grant planning permission in the absence of a Minister ( summary of judgement on page 7).
