Corduff’s glorious run in this year’s All- Ireland Ladies Club JFC came to an abrupt end on Saturday last when Cork kingpins Aghada triumphed (2-6 to 0-3) in a dogged final in Crettyard, County Laois.

Scoreboards are seldom guilty of perjury but the Monaghan and Ulster champions’ gritty and determined display was in no way reflected by the luminous endof- match details which pronounced the Munster ladies victors, albeit deserved ones, it must be said. While a good start is half the battle, the team from the deep south proved that a fast finish is also worth its weight in gold with Aghada’s 2-3 unanswered tally in the final quarter proving toxic to Corduff’s challenge on the day.
