MONAGHAN MAN AMONG FIRST RECIPIENTS OF NEW CUTTING-EDGE HEART FAILURE TECHNOLOGY

Monaghan man Tony Hennessy is among the first recipients of a new high tech device which provides heart failure physicians with an early warning system and enables them to monitor their patients remotely. Called CardioMEMS, the tiny device is implanted in the pulmonary artery to measure its pressure. This enables doctors to ascertain whether the heart is working efficiently or whether there is evidence of a failure condition worsening.
