REVENUE COMMISSIONERS NOT PLANNING CUSTOMS POSTS AT BORDER

A few days after the EU’s Chief Negotiator on Brexit Michel Barnier visited County Monaghan and saw where the Dundalk to Castleblayney road crosses the border, a representative of the Revenue Commissioners has revealed that a new type of customs post could be established up to 15km from the border following Brexit.
The Oireachtas Finance Committee heard on Tuesday from officials from Revenue, who said the UK was to be classed as a so called “third country”, which would see all transactions subject to customs declarations.
