The shock result of the so-called “Brexit” referendum last week was one of the topics debated at the June meeting of Carrickmacross/Castleblayney Municipal District, which took place in Carrickmacross Civic Offices on Monday morning.
Brexit was the main theme of newly-elected Cathaoirleach Aidan Campbell’s very topical speech when he took the chair.
Councillor Campbell observed that Ireland and the UK joined the European Economic Community (EEC) together back in 1973.
