FARMERS throughout Co Monaghan are on ‘red alert’ this week — after cattle rustlers targeted livestock herds at different premises near the Border in recent days.
Farm organisations and rural community group leaders joined gardai yesterday in urging a major step-up in security after a number of cattle were stolen from farms in the Ballybay and Stranooden areas in the early hours of Saturday morning and from the Corduff area at sometime on Monday night/Tuesday morning.
