SMITH CONDEMNS GOVERNMENT FOR FAILING TO ALLOCATE MORE GARDAÍ TO CAVAN/MONAGHAN
Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan Brendan Smith has criticised the Government for failing to allocate any new Gardai to the Cavan-Monaghan division.
Deputy Smith commented this week: “The latest figures released to me reveal that there were 317 Gardai in the Cavan-Monaghan division at the end of May this year, down from 407 in May 2010. The loss of 90 officers to police our communities has seen the force seriously diminished across the two counties and the Government has failed to allocate any new recruits to the division this year.
