LOCAL authorities and rural residents through Co. Monaghan welcomed the announcement on Monday of the appointment of a top international three-man Commission by the Government to explore the feasibility of placing a new €280 million cross-border 400kV electricity power-link underground, or by overhead power-lines, from the Tyrone border, right across counties Monaghan and Cavan, into Co. Meath.
